Carter Lees’ Player Profile
Hometown: Sugar Land, Texas
High School: Kempner High School
Position Rank: No Rank
ESPN Grade: Not yet evaluated
Star Ranking: Not yet evaluated (3-star recruit by other recruiting websites)
Height: 6’5”
Weight: 325 lbs.

Lees is an imposing interior lineman with ideal size for the guard position. He has long arms and does a good job preventing defensive linemen from getting up and into his chest. He has very active hands and takes the fight to his opponent. He’s a natural at down-hill blocking, but his footwork, balance and active hands also make him effective when dropping back into pass protection. In high school, Lees pulled very well and registered his fair share of pancakes when taking on a defense’s second level attackers. Lees will add quality depth to an already deep Arizona offensive line unit. Once he gets his chance, he has the potential to become a multi-year starter. He’ll need to get stronger in the weight room, but has the frame to do just that once he’s a part of college-level workout regimen. How quickly his strength improves will determine how soon he sees the field as a Wildcat.
Player Notes: Lees visited Arizona during hits home game against Northern Arizona in September 2009, committing shortly thereafter. “The coaches showed me the training facilities. They were really impressive. Coach Bedenbaugh and Coach Nichol also told me about the plans for the new football facilities. It will be really great to have those kinds of facilities to improve my game in.” As reported on ESPN’s On The Trail in September ‘09: He told ESPN affiliate Web site WildcatSportsReport.com, "Yea I committed and I'm real excited to be a Wildcat. I wanted to get it out of the way so I could go into my senior season with my head clear. I knew after I visited Arizona early this month that I wanted to go and be a Wildcat."
Lees’ Future Impact
This Year’s Impact: Lees has the D-I size, but needs to get stronger and in better shape. The ‘Cats also want to cross-train him to play center and a redshirt year would really help with that initiative.
Long Term Impact: The Wildcats will train Lees to play both center and guard and that versatility will give him extra opportunities to see the field early in his career. If he does take well to the center position that could be his track to playing time after starter Colin Baxter graduates this year.

... I have been excited about this kids size. 6 5 325 in high school. Damn. Plus we can afford to red shirt him while he gets stronger and learns our system While adjusting to D1 speed. We have a great OL. Welcome Mr Lees. Go Cats! (Houston, TX) |

... There are few naturals at the guard position but this kid is made for the middle. What an athlete! |
