So it is early July, who cares? It is never early to start talking football. In this cast the old Vin-Dogg is going to go Karnak and start making predictions!
So of course the Wildcats are going to start 1-0, its Central Michigan number one and number two, its central Michigan in Tucson. The simple math, two for two should equal 1-0. It’s likely not gonna be the Idaho debacle like the 2008 season opener, but Arizona should be in relax mode by the fourth quarter.
And then multiply all that by a factor of ten in week two of the season. And no disrespect is meant towards northern Arizona, we have no issues with our friendly flagstaff neighbors to the north, but the cats should blow this game out and get some live game reps for backs up September 12th in Tucson.
A week later though is when arizona needs to act like a well oiled machine. Iowa, under Kirk Ferentz, is simply stated, always steady, not to mention they always seem to mess around with doing very special things season in and season out in the Big Ten. Its the first road trip of the season and a homecoming for mike stoops, so it will interesting to see how emotions do indeed play out. My thought, give it to Iowa.
And its also the start of a lengthy road trip for any college football team. Arizona at Oregon State after the trip to Iowa City, and really the university of iowa chain of thought can be applied to whats been happening in Corvallis Oregon recently under head coach mike riley. It’s a tough place to play and regardless of what happens the week before in Iowa City, you better be focused and ready to go against the beavers. The one perhaps saving grace, its late September in Oregon, not late November. My thought, better give this one to OSU.
And a week later is the final stop of a three game roadie. The Cats back up to the pacific northwest to face the new look or maybe new look wanna be Washington Huskies under the direction of first year head coach Steve Sarkesian. They play a tough schedule so don’t let that be the one game they get into the win column be courtesy of you. We’ve seen it happen to many times to way to many teams. My thought, give it to Arizona.
Mid October then opens Arizona Stadium back up for the first time in a month plus. The fighting Harbaughs come calling. Another you should get simply because you’re at home and you have to win home games in college football,l espeically in conference. My thought, give it to Arizona
A week later its UCLA in Tucson. They’ll be better under Rick Nueheisel, but how much better in year number two. I would actually expect quite a bit better, but Arizona just won their first bowl game in a decade, the program is flying high for the first time in a long time and the game is in your back yard. My thought, better give it to Arizona, and that’s five and two seven games in by the way!
Next up its homecoming with Washington state in town. Lets not waste a whole lot of insightful time on this game, they were really bad in 2008, probably not gonna a whole lot better. My thought, give it to Arizona.
November 14th then stacks up as a large game. The cats traveling over to Berkeley to see the Golden Bears. Hmmmm...What to do, what to do? Jeff Tedford runs a tight ship at Cal and results do show on the field. My thought, better give that one to Cal, but hang with me, that’s still six and three by the way two thirds of the way home!
And then you have Oregon home the week after that. The ducks are good, but if Arizona wants to make that move to the upper echelon of teams in the Pac Ten, this is the week. My thought, Arizona gets it done at home against the quack attack.
And then how about the trump card game in my opinion. You go to USC the week after traveling to Tempe. They call it a trap game looking ahead to the Trojans right? The position, though, is interesting. How could Arizona possibly over look Arizona State of all teams before playing in Los Angeles? Bottom line, they won’t. Like I said, trump card game. My thought, the Cats steal one in the valley. And where does that leave us? Eight and three my friends!
And then to wrap the regular season the cats get a trip to the city of angels to battle the Trojans, and as usual, I guess, USC will be jockeying for postion in the BCS standings. Pete Carroll has the talent and motivates his team on the first Saturday in December. My thought, USC wins and Arizona goes an impressive eight and four for the 2009 regular season. And who wants to go bowling? Book ‘em Dano!!! Bear Down Arizona!!!

... Not one word of that article has any merit... As my girlfriend making a season prediction I would say "Good Job"... but as a sports analyst this has to be one of the worst backed projections ever. There is no legitimate reasoning behind any of your arguments. |
