Arizona has received their 11th verbal commitment for the 2010 recruiting class. They have landed an in-state defensive back/athlete.
According to ESPN.com, 6-foot, 180-pound Westview (Avondale, Ariz.) athlete Jourdan Grandon has decided to become a Wildcat. He committed to the Arizona staff while on an official visit over the weekend.
“Right before we were about to leave, I told them I wanted to Bear Down and be a Wildcat,” Grandon told the Arizona Daily Star. “Everybody wants to go to a school that wins. Them showing that they’re an up-and-coming program made me like them even more.”
He also visited Arizona State and Oregon State and was seriously considering Colorado State as well.
Grandon plays both quarterback and corner back for Westview but likely projects as a defensive back in college. ESPN rates him at the 75th best athlete in the class, a three-star recruit with a 77 rating.
“This is a very talented athlete possessing the athleticism and playing speed for either position at the major level of competition,” said his ESPN evaluation. “Does a nice job recognizing and reacting to the run; is a good open field tackler.”
