A week removed from being the darlings of the Pac-10, the Wildcats have now dropped two straight games and now have their work cut out for them if they want to make a push towards the postseason.
TURNING POINT: Arizona led 12-4 and looked like they might run Washington off the floor. Instead they allowed Washington State rattle off a 10-2 run and never regained control.
PLAYER OF THE GAME: Derrick Williams scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds and also had two steals and two blocks.
STAT OF THE GAME: 4. Kyle Fogg grabbed four rebounds, one more than the total of Jamelle Horne and Kevin Parrom combined.
SECOND STAT OF THE GAME: 5. Arizona’s Nic Wise took only five shots, and worse, got to the line just two times.
FEET OF KLAY: Klay Thompson was held to just 14 points, but three other Cougars scored in double figures.
YUCK: The television broadcast awarded WSU’s Brock Motum their “Alpha of the Game” during a tv timeout. The camera caught Motum standing in the huddle, apparently picking a zit on his neck.
GRAY’S ANATOMY: The WSU student section went with a “gray out”, everyone in the section donning great t-shirts and hats. Too bad the empty seats across from them were Washington State scarlet.
BONE YARD: WSU head coach Ken Bone is now 2-0 vs. Arizona.
COMEBACK?: Arizona went on a second half run and trimmed the WSU lead to six…then let the Cougars score the next five and never got within single digits again.
